This morning at welcome time we did our usual days of the week and weather songs. The children are getting very good at these and telling the teachers what day of the week we are on. Mrs Blain then explained what was happening in both of the rooms. The focus of the main activity today was symmetry.
In the mid-hall we had a new layout this morning - a cosy reading corner and a full kitchen corner at the back of the room. This was well enjoyed and used by the children. We also had a bubble table out for which we used a soapy cloth and a straw to make bubbles. Daniel, Hugh and Phoebe made some fantastic big bubbles.
We also had the jungle Duplo out in a construction corner along with some table top games. Mrs Blain was helping the children to create a symmetrical butterfly. The children had to make sure both wings were decorated the same, some of them found it trickier than others.
We had some adult visitors today so we were only able to use the crèche room for a short time. Mrs Brown had a bag of items, the children had to choose and item, clap the syllables and match it to the number on the floor. The dolls house was out and the magnetic blocks for construction. We had an art table as well.
Our get together time was integrated with our physical time. The children started with a game of Simon says but it was 'shadow' says (as we have been learning about shadows), then the children were split into pairs - the 'shadow' had to do actions, which the other had to copy.
At Goodbye time Mrs Brown read the story 'When I grow up'. Have a great weekend. Remember sponsored walk on Monday - all welcome to attend.
