Happy Wednesday everybody, it was lovely to see all the children brave it through the winter weather to come into nursery today.  There was lots of learning going on, the cars were going up and down the garage slides and fast and slow along the roads.  There was tasty food being prepared in the kitchen and monkeys tumbling from the tall trees.  The water tray had turned green and bubbly with pipes, funnels and pourers to investigate how much was in there.

Mrs Friel was quick with snack, making sure the children were all fed and watered as some of us were off on an adventure through the streets of Rutherglen.  The children had the choice of Cheerios, Weetabix, Rice Krispies and Cornflakes.

Some of the boys and girls got all wrapped up and headed off to Rutherglen Library.  Mrs Winsley gave us a walkie talkie to keep in touch and report back on the mission.  Oscar was the first to use it and tell everyone that we had spotted a helicopter.  The children spotted a police car next and Katie told us that they were off keeping everyone safe!

At the library we looked for books with wild animals in them, we selected two and brought them back for us to have a look at over the next few weeks.  Then we popped into Home Bargains to buy some supplies and have a chat with the ladies at the tills.

When we got back to nursery, Mrs Black read the children a Charlie and Lola book all about a visit to the library.  Monica told us that we have to share books at the library because other people might want to look at them.

A big, huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Miss Stephen today, the children were excellent at singing to her and we've all had lots of fun today.

We will see you all tomorrow for more fun and learning!

There was lots of resources out on the nursery floor for the children to interact with today, including; our maths and small world trolley with unifix cubes and number gates, sea life creatures, sand timers, stop watch, dinosaurs, rulers and dinosaur bones. We also had our construction trolley with the poly M resources, kapla bricks and zoo duplo. The wooden dolls house with wooden furniture and ponies, arts and craft table, water trough with poured and fillers,  painting easel, pink play dough with animal cutters and rolling pins.

For physical time the children enjoyed throwing and catching the balls.

We worked on our new zoo animals floorbook topic today, talking about the protective clothing that the zoo keepers wear.  The children looked at images on the laptop at zoo keepers and what they wear.
Snack today was bagel with cheese or butter with cucumber and banana with milk or water or milk for drinking.
At Reflection time we sang some songs and spoke about the nursery golden rules.

Happy Friday everyone. It was a busy day in nursery.  Lots of experiences on offer today.  The boys and girls were busy building using the Kapla bricks and made some fantastic towers.

Snack today was cereal, Rice Krispies, weetabix or Cheerios with milk or water to drink.

Some of the boys and girls took part in making fluffy slime with Mrs Winsley. The ingredients for the fluffy slime were:    PVA Glue 250ml
             1teaspoon of bicarbonate soda
              Food colouring (any colour)
              1tablespoon eye wash
              Shaving foam

When mixing the orange food colouring into the glue Matthew Rafferty said “it’s like  custard” Nieve said “no it’s like yoghurt”.
Scarlett and Nieve used the slime as a bouncy ball. Oscar made a hot dog and Robbie made a rope for animals to climb on.
please send in pictures if you do this at home.

At the creative table some of the boys and girls were making pictures using a variety of materials such as glitter glue and feathers.

Buddy bear is away home to spend the weekend at Matthew Raffertys house. Hope he has lots of fun and look forward to hearing all about it on Monday.
Have a great weekend. See you all next week.

Happy Burns Day to everyone, we had a super time in nursery interacting with all of our super resources and celebrating Rabbie Burns birthday. All of the boys and girls did really well reciting their poem that they had chosen to learn at home. We then tasted haggis, neeps and tatties, listened to a funny story called Katie's moose and danced to Scottish music and some of the boys and girls dressed up in tartan kilts, scarves and shawls.

Snack today was; wraps with soft cheese or butter, cucumber and pear with milk or water to drink.

Some of the boys and girls took part in an experiment. We had four glass containers with tiny holes at the bottom of each one, standing on top of each other. We put muddy water in the top container which very slowly trickled down to the bottom container. The boys and girls found that there was clear water in the bottom container and it wasn't muddy anymore.

At the creative table some of the boys and girls were weaving different coloured wool in and out of holes on a piece of card to make a lovely picture.

Happy Windsday everybody, it's a bit blustery out there!  The children came breezing in and there was lots out for them to explore and discover.  Matthew M and Katie were investigating a book all about the different animals and insects that we can find in our gardens, fields and ponds.  We found a stag beetle that looked just like the one on Matthew's hat.  We had bubbly, brown water with lots of pourers, spinning water wheels and rockets blasting off into space.  The ponies were galloping about in the doll house and the cars were whizzing around the streets of Rutherglen.

Mrs Friel was preparing snack and it was very tasty.  The children had pitta bread, houmous, cherry tomatoes and apple slices to choose from and they said it was great!!

We were finding out more about giraffes today and decided to take our learning outside.  We found out that giraffes can eat up to 45kg of leaves everyday and wanted to know if we could find the same amount of leaves.  To do so though we had to collect them, we had lots of fun finding out if we could estimate how many bags it would take.  Then we weighed the bags on Mrs Black's scales and wrote down the results - they will be published on the white board tomorrow morning so don't forget to check them out!!!

Back in the warmth of nursery and it was Reflection Time.  We talked about what we had discovered in the park and then we sang "Hello Little Blue Bird" to remind us of all our friends names.

We will see you all tomorrow for more fun and learning.
