At welcome time we did our days of the week song then Mrs Brown chatted about our new monitoring system the children are now involved in. She had pictures of each area showing what was expected for tidy. The children are enjoying these responsibilities.
For physical time we had the rainbow web game which the children had to listen to the instructions and go under or over the rainbow web.
We were split into the two rooms today. In the mid-hall Mrs Brown was working on the last of the 'syllable' teaching. The children made pictures of their favourite items which corresponded with 1,2,3 and 4 syllables. We also had the reading corner all set out, kitchen role play area, shaving foam with glitter and glue for messy and some table top games.
In the small room Mrs Friel was playing a soundtrack game. The children had to listen to a nursery rhyme on the CD and then guess which rhyme it was, matching a picture disc with it. The children were also working on a mind map of what books they would like in the reading area. There was also table top games and jigsaws.
Snack today was cornflakes or rice krispies with a choice of milk or water to drink.
At Goodbye time we listened to a story on the Hudl. The story was called 'The shape of me and other stuff'.
Please remember to hand in your sponsor money from Monday's walk. Thank you.
At Welcome time this morning we sang our days of the week song and our weather song, afterwards we marked up our charts. We talked about how sometimes nursery can get a bit messy if we forget to follow our Golden Rule - Choose, Play and Put Away, so we have introduced a new monitoring system. Each day 4 boys and girls will be chosen to be the Messy Officer and monitors. Hopefully this will help keep our nursery floor tidy and safe.
Snack today was bagle, cheese spread and cucumber with a choice of milk or water to drink.
The water was out this morning....it had sea life creatures and green ice cubes in it.....great fun! Mrs Black made up gloop to play with.....it was very messy but great fun too.
The children are enjoying all our new little things in our house corner....chopping board and knife, scales and trays, real life cereal boxes, milk cartons etc, we've even got a pot plant!
Our Book Corner is looking good too with our new rug and cushions.....it's lovely and cosy.
At Group Time today The Blue Circles and Yellow Squares were telling news and the Red Diamonds were playing with sequencing cards...they were excellent at putting the cards into the right sequence of events.
Some children were practicing their numeracy skills with Mrs Brown.
Others worked in the floor book with Mrs Blain. They were making hand shadows using a torch and trying to draw round their shadows. It was a bit tricky but we ended up with some great pictures of bunny rabbits, butterflies and birds. We talked about how the sun is natural light and a torch is man-made light.
We watched a short clip on YouTube called
Why Do We Have Shadows.
At Physical Time we played Jelly Beans....the children love this physical game and find the French Beans and the Beans on Toast very funny.
Before we went home we listened to all the songs we have to learn for our Graduation Show.....it will be here before we know it:-) We will decide what roles we will be playing on Friday.
At welcome time this morning we did our days of the week and the children filled out the chart. Then they chatted about how to walk safely to the park and what was going to happen today.
We had the castle and car garage out for small world today, the role play area had the kitchen and dolls out, the writing area and maths area we in full swing. The tolo was out for construction and the kinetic sand and water tray were out in the malleable are.
We then headed over to the park for our sponsored walk. Mrs Devlin was there to greet us and had some pictures to give us. We had to find the pictures as we walked around. After the walk Mrs Devlin had us doing different exercises which related to our weather topic. They had to run around being a thunderstorm, pretend to throw a snowball at Mrs Friel. Lots of fun, but cold.
Thank you to all our parent helpers.
Once back and warmed up we played parachute games and then for goodbye time Mrs Brown read The Warm Fox - a Percy in the park story.
This morning at welcome time we did our usual days of the week and weather songs. The children are getting very good at these and telling the teachers what day of the week we are on. Mrs Blain then explained what was happening in both of the rooms. The focus of the main activity today was symmetry.
In the mid-hall we had a new layout this morning - a cosy reading corner and a full kitchen corner at the back of the room. This was well enjoyed and used by the children. We also had a bubble table out for which we used a soapy cloth and a straw to make bubbles. Daniel, Hugh and Phoebe made some fantastic big bubbles.
We also had the jungle Duplo out in a construction corner along with some table top games. Mrs Blain was helping the children to create a symmetrical butterfly. The children had to make sure both wings were decorated the same, some of them found it trickier than others.
We had some adult visitors today so we were only able to use the crèche room for a short time. Mrs Brown had a bag of items, the children had to choose and item, clap the syllables and match it to the number on the floor. The dolls house was out and the magnetic blocks for construction. We had an art table as well.
Our get together time was integrated with our physical time. The children started with a game of Simon says but it was 'shadow' says (as we have been learning about shadows), then the children were split into pairs - the 'shadow' had to do actions, which the other had to copy.
At Goodbye time Mrs Brown read the story 'When I grow up'. Have a great weekend. Remember sponsored walk on Monday - all welcome to attend.
Today at welcome time the children sang days of the week and discussed the weather. Phoebe stood up to tell her friends about karate. Phoebe has moved up a belt and demonstrated punch, kick, fist for her friends and answered any questions. Phoebe received a certificate and this will be displayed on our achievement board in the small hall.
