The children have all settled back into nursery routine well after our Easter break.
At Welcome time we sang our days of the week song and put the correct days onto our chart. The children are showing a good understanding of today, tomorrow and yesterday. Our weather chart was full of sunshine.
Mrs Blain and the children were working in the 'Weather' floor book. We are now starting to learn all about the sun.
Some of the children were working with Mrs Brown....they were building some super creations with the duplo and then using the camera to take pictures of these.
At Group time the Red Diamonds, Yellow Circles and Blue Squares were all very busy drawing pictures of what they got up to over the holidays for their Journey Books. The teachers scribed for the children...... it sounds like a great time has been had by all!!
Snack today was pitta bread, houmous, carrot and cucumber with a choice of milk or water to drink.
At Get Together time we talked about the sun and used some reference books to find interesting facts about it. Daniel told us the sun is a star and Evan told us it has fire round the edges of it. We learned that the sun gives us 2 things....heat and light. We enjoyed looking at the Solar System and seeing that the sun sits right in the middle of all the planets.
At physical time we had fun pretending we were planets spinning around the sun. Although.....I don't think the planets spin as fast as we did!!
Well today the chat was all about Easter. The children were very excited that the Easter Bunny might visit the nursery today. The Easter bonnets were spectacular - lots of effort made on the beautiful creations.
Mrs Friel was helping the children make 'stain glassed' Easter eggs (cardboard and coloured film)at the creative table.
Mrs Brown was doing creative numeracy with the children by painting birds nests and then the children had to choose how many paper eggs to put in it.
On the floor we had the water tray out with some beautiful shells, stones and starfish item(courtesy of Mrs Black), there was also cold spaghetti for messy play which the children found fascinating. The kitchen and house corner were in full use along with the dress up. The castle and knights were out in the small world area, with the cars and plastic track. The painting easel was out for our budding artists.
For Get Together time we had our Easter bonnet parade and then the children went outside to see if the Easter Bunny had been. There was great excitement as they went hunting for chocolate eggs.
At Goodbye time the children had a party....lots of dancing and hilarity, especially when Mrs Black put on Up Town Funk. Have a brilliant two weeks everyone and we look forward to seeing you all on the 20th April.
At Welcome time today we chatted about the weather and the children were very excited to tell Mrs Brown that the rain catchers had lots of water in them. They also did the days of the week song. The children then had to put printed chocolate bunnies with the numbers 1-15 in the correct order.
As we were going to Overtoun Park this morning we were just in the mid-hall to begin with. We had the water out with jelly stones and sea life animals, the magnetic blocks, spaceships, cars and garage, variety of books, spring display of soft toys and books along with table top games and jigsaws.
Mrs Friel had the children decorating a large Easter Bunny which they are going to use tomorrow for a game. Mrs Brown was working with the children using different coloured lego to make patterns on a pretend Easter egg.
As the children were getting ready to go out to the park they were singing the songs called 'Spring is here' and 'Down on the farm'.
We walked to Overtoun Park, played on the play equipment and then had a small Easter egg hunt. Lots of fun.
At Goodbye time the children listened to a story called 'Pete the Cat' on the Hudl. Don't forget Easter Bonnet parade tomorrow.
