What a quick year it's been.....we can't believe it's our last week before we stop for summer!
It was another busy day as usual at Stonelaw Preschool. On the floor we had dressing up clothes and babies in the house corner, lots of lovely story books and puppets in the book corner, the small castle, waffle bricks, number and shape puzzles, the alphabet board, lace threading cards, giant magnets, the tents and tunnel, stepping stairs, cars and garage, lots of creative materials, the water tray and much much more!
Melody and Eilidh D were having great fun pretending to be puppies, throwing things for each other to fetch. Felix, Ben G and Finlay built a fantastic volcano out of the waffle bricks using all the red bricks to make the molten lava.
Snack this morning was oatcakes, melon and strawberries with a choice of milk or water to drink. We had a new friend in nursery today.....Miss McAllister, she was a great help with snack and read lots of stories to the children.
At Get Together Time we sang our days of the week song and our weather song. Afterwards we talked about all the new children who will be starting nursery after the summer and how the children returning to nursery will be our 'big' boys and girls. We spoke about what a good role model is and what we are going to do to help the new boys and girls settle in. Ruari said he is going to play with them and Melody said she is going to show them all the toys. Ros is going to teach them all the nursery Golden Rules!
We had a super Graduation Show practice today and all the children had remembered to bring in their singing voices.....not long to wait now! Don't forget to buy your ticket for our Graduation Show, they're flying out the door like hot cakes!
Some of the children took home their Journey Books today, the staff felt quite emotional looking through them and seeing pictures of the children from when they started almost two years ago.....they looked like babies! So have fun looking through them tonight. The rest of the children leaving for school will get their Journey Books home with them tomorrow.
What a fantastic SUMMER PARTY, we hope all the children had lots of fun. The children were super excited once they saw the Minion bouncy castle & slide and the ball pool. There was also toolo, the water tray, reading corner (though it was a bit too noisy to read) and an inflatable bowling game. The children were fab at taking turns on the bouncy castle.
It was then time to show off their dance skills as we played musical statues and musical bumps. The boys and girls requested which songs to dance to.
We then had a lovely party snack, we had grapes, cherries, apple, crisps and a Barny Bear that had chocolate inside. Some children were very kind and opened it for their friends. We had lots of tables pushed together so we could have snack together as one big group.
We also had a game of duck duck goose but we said bouncy castle bouncy castle balloon instead. The children were all partied out by home time and loved their big yellow balloon that they got to take home.
The pictures from Sports Day and our Beach Party are now on the Photo Gallery......don't forget to take a look!
Today at nursery the children looked over the topic floor book and talked about the things that they have learned and enjoyed doing.
Snack was a choice of cereal with milk and milk or water to drink. The children were very independent helping themselves to cereal and pouring a drink for themselves, they enjoyed chatting to their friends at the snack table.
The boys and girls had great fun in our new fabulous garden playing in the giant castle, playing with the water in the sink using watering cans and plastic tubes, drawing an outline of our friends on the glass board, looking at our beautiful plants, pouring water and plastic balls down the pipes attached to the wall, using the chalk board and lots more.
At nursery today the children were busy finishing off their cards and gifts for Fathers Day. Out on the floor to explore and play; the water tray with bubbles and bubble wrap, sand and different toy vehicles, arts and crafts, a variety of books including books about dads, the wooden castle and knights, table top games and jigsaws, the house corner and dress up, puppets, musical instruments, and lots more.
Snack today was wraps with spreading cheese, cucumber and apple, with milk or water to drink.
We had a dress rehearsal for the Graduation that went really well, everyone looked great in their costumes.
