At welcome time we practiced our days of the week and talked about seasons as Jamie explained he doesn't like autumn as it makes his hands cold. The children reminded us of the golden rules.

We tried to build houses with the moon sand and learnt that to get the sand to stick together we had to add some water.

Some children went outside to see what the church building is made out of and then did some brick rubbings, all to enhance our topic learning.

In the crèche room children were making houses and towers with Mrs Blain. One of the towers was higher than Mrs Blain.

At group time we read the story The Smartest Giant in Town, brought in by Evan. We found it very funny as he gave his smart clothes away. The giant was kind just like the great boys and girls of Stonelaw Preschool.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR JUNK TO BUILD WITH NEXT WEEK SO PLEASE BRING IN ANY BOXES, CARTONS, TUBES ETC. THANKS

Have a great weekend.

Today we used name cards to identify our new name cards to identify our names.

Inline with our topic we made pictures of our front doors and wrote our house numbers on the doors. We then cut these out and stuck them into our floor book.

For our activities we were making houses from a variety of materials; colourful shapes, large Lego bricks and our sticks (collected yesterday).

At group time we listened to an audio story called 'The Bear in the Cave'. After which we played 'Guess who is calling you'; a listening game for which we used funny voices.

Snack was toast with bananas and the daily choice of water or milk to drink.

Today after welcome time we ventured to the park. It was a lovely day and we had a lot of fun on all the play equipment.

We collected sticks to make a house out of sticks picture tomorrow, relating to our topic (Erica's idea).

Once back at nursery we had yoghurt and strawberries for snack then continued our free play time. Todays messy play was moon sand and it definitely made a mess! Sorry about the state of some of the children's jumpers.

At goodbye time we read 'Monster in my house'.

Today some of us had great fun making a mess in with the shaving foam...

Our activities today built on our safe use of scissors through cutting out pictures of furniture and objects around the house. We then stuck them in the correct rooms on our activity sheet.

During group time we talked about days of the week and our Golden Rules. We were looking at numbers and matching numbers to the quantities during the aeroplane counting game.

Our stories were 'You choose' which Anton brought in and 'Hungry Floppy looks for Food' which Katee brought in. Both reinforced our topic of 'What do people live in'.

At physical time we had to use our listening ears to hear which room was shouted out. We then had to run to the correct corner while music was playing.

Another great day at Stonelaw Preschool.

Well after a successful first week we are now back into full swing and all children have settled back really well.

Today we talked about our new topic. It is all about 'What people can live in'. This was chosen after all the children gave us feedback on all the various places they went on holiday - tents, cottages, caravans.

If the children have any photos or books of caravans, tents, houses, castles etc we would love to borrow them.

We worked on our new floorbook drawing pictures of all the things we can live in. We worked in our keyworker groups, telling news, drawing our families and learning songs.

We had a lot of fun taking turns playing on the soft play equipment and for physical time we played traffic lights being cars, caravans and campervans.

Snack was crackers, breadsticks, cheese and grapes.
