I have now tried to publish what we did today three times. For some reason it is only publishing the first paragraph! Hopefully this will be sorted tomorrow.
Welcome back after the long weekend. It is great to hear all the boys and girls news. Some went visiting castles, visiting family, trips on boats. Lots of fun.
Today at welcome time we enjoyed listening to Kerr telling us about his Hudl which he had brought in for Show and Tell. We then explained to the children about smoke alarms/fires and had a practice at dropping the toys and lining up for evacuating the building when the alarm sounded. The boys and girls were very good at this. Later on during the session we set the alarm off and did a full fire drill.
We had the large lego bricks out today and some of the children decided to build sofas and chairs as well as towers with them.
Mrs Friel was teaching us about Castles today, who lives in them and why they are important. The children were able to help create a large castle painting.
Snack today was toast with banana and the choice of milk or water.
For physical time we played with the hula hoops. We found out there are lots of different ways to use a hula hoop. We can be knights on horses and spin like dancers.
Evan brought in a great factual book today about the homes we live in so we discussed this at story time. We then looked at our wooden play castle and spoke about the different areas of it, draw bridge, moat etc.
At goodbye time we did an action song about a handsome Prince, Princess and wicked magician.
Have a great long weekend everyone. We'll see you back at nursey on Tuesday.
Well we had a busy morning this morning.
Firstly our new toys had arrived so the boys and girls had great fun playing the new 'Rainbow Colour Cones' board game and Number Pops counting activity.
At welcome time we recapped on our rules for walking to the park and explained to the children that we would be doing something special today at the park.
At the park we meet Mrs Devlin for a picture hunt. The children had sheets of paper with pictures of various places to live in. The children had to walk around the park and find the matching pictures hiding in the trees or on the benches. It was a lot of fun and once again the sun was shining for us.
Then it was back to nursery for our snack cereal, Shreddies or Rice Krispies, with a drink of water or milk.
After a short play time we then had a visit from Louise from Childsmile. She told us all about the proper way to brush our teeth with a huge set of teeth and a large toothbrush. The children were super listeners and afterwards had great questions for Louise.
For Goodbye time we played Duck, Duck, Goose and then 5 Currant Buns.
For welcome time the children enjoyed carrying out finger exercises and action songs.
Today Mrs Blain was teaching the children about the Inuit people who live in igloos. We discussed what they wear and eat. This was put into our floor book.
Mrs Brown brought out our frozen ice paint to show the boys and girls what had happened over night to the paint water! The children then monitored how fast each size melted. We found out that the smaller ones melt faster.
Snack today was breadsticks, cucumber, carrots and grapes with a choice of milk or water.
Today we had the climbing frame up for the children to play on. Also for messy play we had green play doh. For physical play we sang the song '5 wee mice went skating on the ice', using paper plates as ice skates. This was a lot of fun.
Our story today was 'Tusk Trouble'.
