This morning the boys and girls had lots of fun playing in the water with the number ducks and coloured gems, the wooden train track and trains was very popular and the children used the large lego bricks to build a spaceship. The children had fun using
This morning we split into two groups so that we all had a chance to be in the garden and inside.
In the garden the children were planting carrot seeds with Mrs Friel, learning about what plants need to grow and how to rake the soil and place in the seeds. there was a lot of enthusiasm. Mrs Blain had the outdoor floorbook outside and the children were recording their thoughts and drawing pictures in it for our outdoor topic 'Things that grow'.
In the mid-hall we had the linking blocks and Duplo out. Some of the children were creating a bridge using the linking blocks to allow the Duplo train and track to go under and cars to go over. It was super learning.
Mrs Black put on her Fun Friday music. The children enjoyed dancing too it even wiggling hips whilst painting.
At reflection time Ms Smith went over the garden rules, the children sang the days of the week song and then played musical statues.
Have a good weekend everyone.
This morning the children enjoyed playing with; the wooden castle and knights, water tray with numbered ducks, the giant lego bricks, the dress up clothes, the bead maze, clock jigsaw, stop watch and timers, coloured rice with tea set plus lots lots more.
For snack today we had wraps, soft cheese, cucumbers and sliced peaches.
The boys and girls brushed their teeth and then washed their brush.
The children worked really well in the floorbook, we continued to look at patchwork patterns. The children cut coloured card into squares and glued them into the floor book to make a marvellous patchwork pattern. The boys and girls enjoyed using the scissors to cut and they were very good at sharing the resources.
For physical the children took part in yoga exercise, they were very good at listening to instructions and stretching their bodies.
At Reflection time the children sang the good morning song and the days of the week song. We counted up to 10, the boys and girls are very good at remembering that the 0 comes first.
Happy Wednesday everybody we've had a busy morning with lots of learning going on. The children were measuring and pouring out cups of rice with the teapot. They were very good at pouring equal amounts for each person so they could all enjoy a cuppa together. The number ducks were bobbing about on the water tray and the duplo train track was weaving its way around the nursery floor. Robbie was making patterns with our multi-coloured shapes and sorting them into categories.
We enjoyed ourselves out in the garden and had two helpers with us. Thank you Flynn and Oscar for lending us your mums - it was very helpful of you! Flynn's mum was drawing with Sara using our chalk board and Oscar's mum was building with Katie and Nieve using our large construction toys. Scarlett and Matthew R were doing a spot of gardening, getting the plot ready for our vegetables to be planted.
Mrs Friel knew that hard work makes the children hungry, so she had lots of snack ready for them coming back in. The children had seeded wraps, apples, cherry tomatoes and houmous and it was very well received (no left-overs for the teachers to pinch!!).
At Reflection Time we had Flynn's mum show us some sign language - we learnt all about different animal signs and how to say "Please" and "Thank You" - and we all said "Thank You" at the end. Mrs Black read a story called "What's that noise?" and the children used their listening ears to work out what the different sounds were.
We will see you all again tomorrow for more fun and learning, so make sure you all get to bed early tonight!
Hello.....lots of fun was had today in nursery. On the floor we had castle and knights, waffle bricks, Duplo train and track, large Lego bricks, play dough and much more. At the water tray the children were building their numeracy skills playing with our new number ducks. We didn't have sand in the sand tray today, we had beautiful bright coloured rice and a tea set. The children enjoyed using the teapot to fill and empty the tea cups, although I do believe I over heard one of the children asking another if they wanted salt in their tea :-). The fire station and phone was well played with, most children are showing an awareness to fire safety and the emergency services.
Snack was wholemeal toast, banana and raspberries with a choice of milk or water to drink.
For physical we played a game of big brown bear. The children were choosing what colour of bear they would like to be......we had every colour under the sun from brown to sparkly rainbow!
Miss Smith and the children were continuing to explore pattern. They were using Smartie sweeties to follow the outline of different pictures and shapes to form a pattern. They were very good at this and not one Smartie disappeared!
At group time there were lot of different experiences going on, sorting and matching using tweezers and coloured elephants, making ladybirds, building numeracy with the number ducks and sharing their thoughts on the right to be healthy.
At Reflection time we continued to develop the children's understanding of our golden rules and why we need them in place. Afterwards, we all looked at our new 'Bee a Buzzing Mathematician' display. The majority of children enjoyed using the number line to count 0 - 20, others enjoyed looking for the tallest / shortest flower whilst others counted the dots on the ladybirds.
