All of the children had their lovely Christmas party outfits on today, everyone looked super. For the first part of the day we played with the nursery toys and then we watched a Christmas Singing Kettle video. We loved singing along to the songs and copying the actions.
We had a special yummy snack of pom bear crisps, small chocolate balls, marshmallows, grapes and apple with milk or water.
We played lots of party games; musical chairs, musical statues and musical bumps. We also played pass the parcel and had a dancing competition. Everyone joined in all of the games and had great fun.
Then Santa arrived with a sack full of presents for the boys and girls, who by this point were super excited.
The staff wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year. Nursery will reopen on Monday 5 January 2015.
Today at welcome time we took turns to sing our good morning song and discussed the date and the golden rules.
The boys and girls were very busy decorating fairy cakes with icing and red or green sprinkles and we also made top hats using chocolate and marshmallows, the children were very creative and were excited to take them home.
Snack today was vanilla yogurt with bananas and melon and a choice of milk or water.
We had fun playing with the nativity set and could retell the story of our Nativity show.
At together time we sang our christmas songs to practice for the christmas party and five christmas puddings in the baker's shop, Anton was a fantastic baker. Mrs Friel read a story called "Crispin, the pig who had it all".
Nursery this morning was so busy. At Welcome Time we sang our days of the week song and spoke about the weather. The children were super excited and wanted to tell each other who was coming to see them in their nativity play.
They enjoyed playing for a little while with the artic playset and snow until it was time for snack....Rice Crispies or Shreddies with a choice of milk or water to drink.
After snack it was time to get into our costumes, get our pictures taken and have one last practise at some of our lines before all the mummies and daddies arrived.
And the rest you know!
Thanks to everyone who came along......we hope you all enjoyed it! The boys and girls were fantastic and all the staff are so proud of them.
Don't forget it's party time on Thursday 18th! Santa will arrive at 11.30am......if you want to see your child receiving their gift from Santa please come back to nursery for 11.20am. Also.....if you have a younger child and you wish them to receive a gift from Santa please give the gift to a member of staff and they will make sure it is put in Santa's sack. Nursery times are as normal.
Today was a slightly different day. After a time of free play the children then went into a full dress rehearsal. They were putting on their costumes and Mrs Winsley was finishing the backdrops.
The children were absolute stars. Well done everyone. We hope Mums, Dads, Grans, Grandpas and family can make it along tomorrow. 10.50am for 11 start.
Snack today was crackers, cheese and grapes with a choice of milk or water.
After the dress rehearsal Mrs Brown and Mrs Blain were finishing making presents with the children for their Mums and Dads. We had Christmas sensory play out, the balancing beam, a nativity scene and our usual kitchen area.
Wow the day went very quickly.
At welcome time this morning the children were telling Christmas jokes. They find themselves so funny, it is very cute.
For the beginning of the session the children split between the two rooms. In the crèche room Mrs Brown was playing a spot the snowman game and had a giant floor puzzle out. The children were in two teams completing the puzzle and encouraging each other when finished. For the spot the snowman game the children had to listen to the choices and take turns.
In the mid hall for messy play we had fake snow. This was made by Mrs Black using bicarbonate of soda and shaving foam. The children loved having fun with this. The hairdressing box was out and the children had fun with role play. The children were also making special Christmas presents for their mums.
Snack was toast with bananas and the choice of milk or water.
At get together time we went over some of the nativity songs. The children are picking them up really well. It will be dress rehearsal on Monday. For Goodbye time the story 'The Smiley Snowman' was read which Evan had brought in. Have a brilliant weekend.
