The boys and girls had a lovely time when they went to the Tron Theatre to see The Elf by Herself. They said it was a little bit sad but very funny and they liked it when Tiny tickled their faces with a feather.
For messy play we had shaving foam and pine cones.
At welcome time we practised our French words and learned a new one, merci. The boys and girls are having fun learning French with their friends.
The children helped Mrs Black make snow by mixing shaving foam and bicarbonate of soda together, It was amazing it looked just like real snow.
We made great Santa pictures using our hand prints to make Santa's beard, look out for these on the nursery wall.
At group time the boys and girls shared their news and sang some Christmas songs.
At physical time the children had a choice of playing big brown bear or the traffic lights game. They used their voting sticks to vote and the traffic lights game won.
We voted again for a story the children could either choose Angel Mae or Bear Stays Up. Bear stays up won today so we will read Angel Mae next week.
We then celebrated achievements by Kerr for moving up in swimming lessons.Hugh for showering and getting dressed by himself, Arianna for helping with the dishes. Emma for getting dressed for nursery by herself and doing buttons. Orlaidh for joining a gymnastics club and for demonstrating forward rolls and Lloyd for sleeping in his own bed well done boys and girls.
At welcome time this morning we discussed advent and opened numbers 6,7, and 8 on the nursery Christmas tree advent calendar. The children did the Shark song which is a finger exercise song that they enjoy. Phoebe told us about her adventures with Buddy bear over the weekend, going to the cinema, trying on party shoes, helping decorate a Christmas tree and riding on a reindeer to name a few things.
For physical play we had the climbing frame out, at the messy station there were melted wax crayons in different shapes and at the activity table Mrs Brown was making Christmas pudding biscuits.
The children rehearsed the nativity play which is just going to be fabulous. Don't forget Tuesday 16th 10.50am.
At get together time the children played the jumping seats game and guess who is calling you. Mrs Muir was in observing the children and commented on how well behaved they are and what super listeners. We are so proud of the boys and girls.
At goodbye time 'Santa comes to Glasgow' was read. The children enjoyed it.
It was a very busy morning in nursery today. A big thank you to Mrs Rodgers (Arianna's Mum) for coming in to play with us again. We enjoyed playing between the two rooms.....in the mid hall we had toolo, the kitchen, table top games, water with Christmas glitter in it and lots, lots more out to play with. Mrs Brown was busy making snowmen with the children who didn't manage to make them yesterday.
In the crèche room we had out the dolls house, the ponies, lots lovely Christmas story books and much more. Mrs Blain was playing shops with the boys and girls and they were learning to identify a 1p,2p,5p and a 10p. They were all very successful at this and made some great coin rubbing pictures.
Snack went down a treat this morning.....mini wraps with feta cheese, tomato and cucumber - delicious!
At Get Together time we sang 5 Little Snowmen....the children's 'melting' actions were very good.
Mrs Brown read the story Mog's Christmas and afterwards we practised our nativity play.
Buddy Bear is away home with Phoebe this weekend he's going to help Phoebe and her family put up the Christmas tree.....I don't think Phoebe's Mummy knew this :-)
Just before home time it was Katee's turn to open number 5 on our Christmas Tree advent calendar.

At welcome time this morning Jamie had his show and tell. He had brought in a child's karaoke machine and Rabbie the rabbit. He was very good at explaining his toys to the children and Jamie then demonstrated the karaoke by singing The Wheels on the Bus which the others joined in,
Today we had the Christmas Sensory play out, a hopscotch grid for physical and Mrs Friel was making Elves to hang on Christmas trees at the arts and craft table. Lots of fun.
At group time Mrs Black was doing floating and sinking experiments, with Mrs Blain's group. The children found out that a ball of plasticine sinks but if they stretch it out it makes a boat and floats. Mrs Brown was making snowman prints with sponge painting and the children had to identify the numbers for how many buttons were to be put on. Mrs Friel's group where discussing shapes and drawing pictures with them. Busy, busy.
Snack was toast with banana and the choice of water or milk to drink.
We had get together time at which we opened number four on the advent calendar and then the children were practicing the nativity play.
At welcome time today we did our days of the week song and then we continued talking about shapes and their properties. Some of the children had to choose a shape and then draw it on their partners back. The partner had to guess which shape it was. The children enjoyed this.
Today for messy play we had sand out with a couple of toy diggers. We had the duplo out for construction and spaceships for role play.
We then ventured to the park where we split into two groups and had walkie talkies to try and communicate with each other. It didn't quite go to plan however the children still enjoyed it. We then met up and played 'Captain's Coming' among the trees.
Back to the nursery to warm up and enjoy a bowlful of cereal. The choice today was Cheerios or bitesized Shreaded Wheat with milk or water to drink.
The story at goodbye time was 'Grumpy Badger's Christmas'. The children were asked to guess what the story was about from the picture on the front cover. We had some interesting answers!
