At welcome time this morning we sang our welcome song. The children were able to sing it perfectly to Mrs Blain. Mrs Blain was then chatting about our tongues and how important they are. This led to the children looking in a mirror at their tongues to see the taste buds.
In the mid-hall today we had the kitchen out, the reading corner, the play sand, the wooden blocks and the cars with garage. In the water tray we had something very fun - making ice-cream (pretend) using cotton wool balls that were different scents and coloured rice. The children loved making each other ice creams, some used spoons as wafers! Great imaginations.
Mrs Brown was doing a taste activity. The children had cubes of raw potato and apple to try. They were not very fond of the potato!!
In the crèche room the safari duplo was out, the number blocks and some activity books. Mrs Blain was also doing a taste activity. The children tried vinegar, lemon essence, olives, popcorn and jam. They had to decide whether the flavours were salty, sweet or sour and give them a thumbs up or down. They were very good at trying news things - some of the faces pulled when trying the vinegar were priceless!!
For physical time we were practicing our dressing up race for sports day. The children found it very funny. This took us upto home time.
