We used 2 rooms today, Mrs Brown, Mrs Black and Mrs Gallagher were in the mid hall and Mrs Blain and Mrs Winsley were in the creche room.In the mid hall Mrs Brown was working on our new literacy floor book. The children were drawing pictures of their favourite books from home. Zara's favourite was her Peppa Pig book and Jessica's is The Little Mermaid.
Mrs Black was helping the children draw maps on baking paper and some children commented on how one side of the paper was smooth but the other side was rough. Eilidh D drew a compass on her map, they all looked fab.
As part of our "All about me", topic Mrs Blain helped the children to make a chart to see what colour of eyes we have. The children had to look for their name and draw their eyes next to the correct colour. This was a useful way to display information and the children could look and see that we have lots of boys and girls with blue eyes at nursery. There were also magnets in the creche room and Otis managed to make a tin roll along the table using a magnet to pull it, this was very impressive so Otis showed all his friends at get together time.
Snack was french baguette, cheese and apple, the children were serving their own snack and buttering their own bread.
At get together time we read "Sharing a shell", and discusssed the important jobs the author and illustrator do. We also listened to the title and looked at the front cover to guess what the story might be about. During the story we used story wands. Each wand is a different colour and has a question on it ie Who is your favourite character? where is the setting? and what do you think will happen next?
Ava cut out a picture of our story wands and glued them into our literacy book.
At physical time the children played duck duck goose and then it was goodbye time. We discussed what we have learned in nursery and we sang a new song called Leo the Lion.
Have a great weekend.
