At welcome time this morning Mrs Brown was continuing our January M.Y.S.E.L.F - how can we make our friends happy? The children started to tell each other jokes - Anton's jokes were 'What's orange and sounds like a parrot? A carrot' 'What do cats drink in their drink? Mice cubes.' We were all laughing. Phoebe's joke was 'Why did the banana go to the hospital? Because he wasn't peeling well.' Great jokes.
In the mid-hall today we had the coloured rice for messy play with shape formation cards. It was quite tricky for some of the children to pour and form the rice into a specific shape. We had the duplo and ?? for construction play. The duplo was very popular and some great towers were built.
Mrs Brown was continuing teaching about rhyming words in the crèche room. Today's activities were based around the Gruffalo story. The children are doing really well at recognising rhyming words. When Mrs Brown said the word cake Erica piped up 'shake rhymes with cake'. Mrs Brown tried to trick them with the word fled but Hugh said that bread rhymes with fled. Such clever boys and girls.
Snack was wraps with grated cheese, cucumber, tomatoes and tangerines and water or milk to drink. Most of the children chose to put the tangerines in their wraps as well as the cheese!! A new combination...
At Get Together time the children played the bug in the rug game, which they love and find funny. Then they did some exercises - stretches, star jumps, spins, for physical time.
At Goodbye time Mrs Blain read the story 'It's not fair' by Elizabeth Dale. Then they did some action songs; shark attack, little blue fish. Have a great weekend.
