We were using our senses for the food floorbook to describe and identify different foods. We used our taste sense to decide which bowl had peeled and cubed apple and which bowl had peeled and cubed potato. They both looked the same. The children preferred the taste of the apple.
We used our sense of hearing, this was a bit tricky as the children could identify that they could hear water, when they took the blindfold off it was a ..........................coconut! We used our sense of smell and identified lemon and an onion. We used our sense of touch to explore kiwi fruit and a small pumpkin which was quite heavy. We then used our sense of sight the children thought we had 2 oranges but at Get Together time we discovered it was something else.
Snack was bagels with cream cheese and cucumber with a choice of milk or water.
We had coco playdough out which smelled lovely, the boys and girls also had dry pasta tubes and they were making hedgehogs.
We also had lots of Autumn leaves, acorns, books and other Autumn items to explore at our investigation area.
At Get Together Time we cut into the oranges, we discovered that one was an orange but the other one was red inside and was a Grapefruit. Some boys and girls tried the grapefruit and thought it was yummy. Cody asked if he could try the lemon. Cody and Leon tried it and pulled funny faces as it was a bit too sour. We also collected some coconut water in a jug but we didn't get very much. Then we went and had a game of duck duck goose before home time.
