Mrs Brown had a shopping basket full of pictures of different foods, some were healthy, some were unhealthy. The children had to decide which category they belonged in, then cut them out and glue them into the food floorbook. Leon chose a picture of burger and fries "You don't eat McDonalds every day coz you'll get a sore tummy." Craig chose some fruit and veg pictures "Peas are healthy and strawberries and bananas are good and carrots." Elijah chose a picture of fizzy juice "Fizzy juice isn't good for your teeth, drink it when you are a grown up." Some boys and girls played Greedy Gorilla and found lots more healthy food for their plates but if they found the unhealthy food they had to feed it to the gorilla. Some children listened to a story called 'Eat your peas' which they really enjoyed.
Snack was rice cakes with cheddar cheese, grapes and carrot sticks.
After snack some children went into the garden with Miss Smith and Mrs Friel to play with the water, cars, scooters and pirate ship.
Mrs Blain took some cars over to the writing table and attached some pens to the cars so that they were drawing as they moved along.
At physical time we played with the hula hoops and pretended the hoop was a large steering wheel. Oscar would shout red light and we had to stop until it turned green again. We also talked about food that matched the colours of the hula hoops. Robbie had a green hoop and said it was the same colour as broccoli. Ros had a red hoop which she said was the same colour as raspberries and strawberries.
At reflection time we sang our days of the week song and practiced reciting the months of the year. Olivia put the sunny and cloudy card on the weather board. Jasmine said she enjoyed making pasta in the house corner and Oscar enjoyed making sausages. Logan enjoyed playing with Ruari on the stepping stones.
Tomorrow is Ruari's turn for show and tell, we know he is super excited to show us one of his toys.
