Mrs Friel was teaching the children about lungs as part of our bodies topic. They looked at diagrams of the lungs learned that we breathe in good air called oxygen. Naima learned that "the lungs are next to your heart", Finlay said "I breathe good breath down my windpipe", and Josh said "we breathe in good air called oxygen and breathe out bad air."
Snack was pancakes, pear, banana and blueberries. Some children got stickers for eating lots of fruit.
Mrs Black was teaching the children the importance of handwashing. The children discussed what germs are and how to maintain good hygiene.
Mrs Brown was hiding the childrens names in lots of tissue paper and the children had to try to find them. Some children are great at recognising their names and the friends names too.
The boys and girls have been bringing in their favourite stories from home. There were lots of stories so the children voted for which one they wanted to hear. Leo's book received the most votes, he brought in The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
The children played a physical game where they had to listen for clues and then run to the correct answer displayed around the room. The answers were stethoscope, brain, skeleton, lungs and oxygen. Some clues were;
It's made up from lots of bones?
The rib cage protects them?
It helps us to concentrate?
We use this to listen to our hearts?
It's what we breathe?
The children then danced to sticky kids and discussed how it makes them feel when they do exercise.
Please remind your children of plans for the weekend so Buddy Bear can decide who to visit this weekend.
