At welcome time we talked about our trip to the library yesterday. The boys and girls said which booked they like best and why. Most of the children enjoyed listening to Pete the cat and his 4 groovy buttons because they could play along with musical instruments.
We talked about the weather and said that it had changed from being sunny yesterday to cold and a little rainy today. We checked our rain catchers and found that more rain had fallen over night. We measured the rain and it was now at 2cm we added this information onto our weather chart.
We worked on our floorbook today with Mrs Friel talking about the Sun.The children gave lots of good information about what the sun can do; Phoebe said it can hurt your eyes, Lucie said it can burn your skin and Katee said it can heat up the sea. Daniel drew a picture of a sun that was yellow, orange and red, he said that the sun was a burning star that had fire around it.
Snack today was tortilla's with chicken, tomatoes and cucumber with milk or water to drink.
In the playroom today we had; the dolls house, puppets, track and cars, Mr and Mrs Potato Head, kitchen and dress up, writing area, maths area, number jigsaws, dominoes, wooden magnetic number toy, snap cards, book corner, water tray and ponies.
At group time the blue squares played a board game called Rain or Shine
The red diamonds made lovely rainbows using cotton wool, paper plates and coloured card. The yellow circles also made rainbows using paint and old tooth brushes.
Mrs Brown helped the children write their names using all the colours in the rainbow.
For physical time today we played a game of duck, duck, goose and substituted duck and goose for weather words.
