When the boys and girls arrived at nursery it was straight over to Mrs Black to brush their teeth. They are really good at identifying their tooth brushes on the coloured buses. Our new starts are learning lots from our older children.
Balancing beams, castle and knights, babies in the house corner, jelly letters in the water, wooden track, spaceships and much more was out to play with today. The children especially enjoyed playing with the lacing cards, threading buttons and bobbins and some of the boys built some great creations with the toolo. As we are focusing on fine motor skills this week these were super toys for practising our fine manipulative movements.
Mrs Brown was doing jigsaws with the children. Do you know Naima and Ros can do a 44 piece puzzle and Ben G can do a 50 piece puzzle all by themselves, well done boys and girls!
Mrs Blain and the children were admiring themselves in the mirror, identifying what colour of eyes and hair they had and then displayed all the information they had collected on a graph. Afterwards some of the children painted fantastic portraits of themselves.
Snack today was melon and yogurt with a choice of milk or water to drink.
At Get Together we listened to Zara's Show & Tell, she brought in her beautiful Cinderella dress which she put on for us all to see. Zara told us "The ugly sisters wasted Cinderella's pink dress so her fairy godmother made her a new beautiful blue sparkly dress". Zara answered all the children's questions really well and Mrs Blain helped Zara count the underskirts on her dress, there were four!
The coloured rice was out with lots of different sizes of tubes and jars in it. The children were very good at transfering the rice through the tubes into the jars, problem solving as they went along.
At Reflection time we chatted about our morning and what we had learned, then we sang two songs - Head Shoulders Knees & Toes and a new song that Mrs Black taught us "Cheeky Cheeky Chin".
