Our returning children are settling back into nursery life nicely. Our new friends, Rosie, Eve, Rory, Murdo, Tom and Grace are growing in confidence and are enjoying exploring all the toys and experiences Stonelaw Preschool has to offer. The sand, play dough, water and loose parts area are all very popular with the children.
At Welcome time we have been discussing what 'learning' means and looking at all the learning opportunities in the playroom. We have also been reminding ourselves of the Golden Rules... kind hands, walking feet, listening ears, nursery voices and choose, play and put away. When singing our Welcome song we have been singing each child's name rather than singing 'children', so we can learn the new children's names and vise versa!
Snack today was crackers with butter, cucumber and oranges with a choice of milk or water to drink. This was all served up by Miss Smith.
As we have just returned to nursery after the summer holidays we have no floor book running at present. Over the next week staff will be observing and chatting to the children, finding out their likes and interests so the children can vote on a new topic for the floor book.
For physical today we played Big Brown Bear. It was great fun and our older children were so good at showing the younger children how to join in.
At Reflection Time, Mrs Brown listened to the children reflecting on their favourite experiences over the session. Then, the children chose the story Commotion in the Ocean for her to read to them.
See you tomorrow!
