What a cold day....but I think there's a lot worse to come!
In nursery today there were lots of fun things going on. On Thursday it's World Book Day but we've started our celebrations early. In the role play area we have a variety of dressing up costumes relating to books. The children are enjoying acting out the stories with each other. At the writing table the children have been 'writing' their own story books....we have lots of budding authors at Stonelaw Preschool I think! We are also celebrating World Book Day in the messy area. In the water tray we are celebrating, 'Commotion in the Ocean' and it is filled with lots of sea creatures.
This morning we had a new friend in to play with us, Mrs McCann. She is coming in on a voluntary basis for the next couple of Tuesdays.
The children are enjoying the physical challenges on offer, our new hurdles, the stepping stairs and the very tricky stomp a-rounds. The steering wheels are very popular amongst the children. Lots of directional language is being heard when the children are playing with these.
For topic, Miss Smith and the children continued to explore the animals who like to live in the snow and ice. Today they were looking at all different species of penguins. All the children found the crested penguin very funny....I wonder why?
For snack today it was oatcakes with butter, strawberries and melon with a choice of milk or water to drink...delicious!
At physical time the children played Jack and the Beanstalk with Mrs Black. They had to try and steal the giant's (Mrs Black) golden eggs without waking her up.
At Reflection Time we listened to Katie telling us all about her phone that she brought in for Show & Tell. She showed us how it works and then confidently answered questions about it from her peers.
See you all tomorrow if we're not snowed in ;-)
