We have been talking this week about Spring, and the changes we are seeing around us. Spring resources have been added to the creative table and the investigation area. The children have enjoyed listening to Spring Time stories and have shown great interest in the life-cycle puzzles of a butterfly and a frog.
All children joined in a game of 'What's in the bag'. They had to identify the shape of the object in the bag by using their sense of touch. They were all very good at this game, identifying a square, circle, triangle, hexagon and pentagon.
Snack today was cream crackers with butter, oranges and apples with a choice of milk and water to drink.
Mrs Black and some of the children worked together in the topic floor book. Today they were looking at some of the different coverings animals have....fur, feathers, skin and scales. Afterwards, they discussed how some people are allergic to certain animal coverings.
For physical we continued to explore simple forces. Today we were looking at wind and thrust. The children had great fun pretending to be blown about by the wind. We also played a game using straws, cotton balls, pipe cleaners and felt leaves. We competed with each other to see who could blow their object the furthest! Then, Mrs Blain blew up gigantic flying balloons and we all had great fun chasing them around the room.
It was Elias' turn for Show and Tell today. He brought in a Star Wars Lego spaceship with Storm Troopers flying it. He was very confident telling his friends and teachers all about it.....thank you Elias!
At literacy time Mrs Brown and the children recited lots of nursery rhymes. Mrs Blain was very impressed by all the extra verses that they added on to the rhymes.
