Hi folks, I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.....it was glorious! The children all seemed happy to be back in nursery today.
At Welcome time we sang our days of the week song and discussed how this weekend had been a long weekend. The children were very clever to point out that we were off Friday and Monday too, not just Saturday and Sunday. We listened to each other share their news about what we got up to over the weekend. There was lots of chat about visiting the beach, going to different parks, staying in caravans, enjoying paddling pools in the garden and eating lots and lots of ice cream!
In the floor book today Mrs Brown and the children were looking at old toys and new toys, just like the ones in our graduation song. They talked about the differences over the years, most could explain in their own words that some old toys were made of wood and new toys are now mostly made of plastic!
Snack today was toast and butter, with strawberries and banana, with a choice of milk or water to drink.
Our graduation practices are going well, and the children are starting to sound fab! The younger children are still very keen to help us out, by standing in for missing children.
Mrs Blain and some of the children continue to explore clouds. Today they were asking the question, "How does the water get up to the clouds"? They then went outside to explore 'The Water Cycle'. They poured water into the big black tray, then drew a chalk line to mark the area the water covered. Now....they have to keep checking to see what happens to the water over the next day. Will it disappear? Will it evaporate?......We'll have to wait and see!
It was Nieve's turn for Show & Tell. She brought in her beautiful Belle house. Nieve told us she got her toy from the Disney shop because the teachers told her Mummy she is a good girl at nursery.
Just before home time, Mrs Black read the story Fox in Socks. It was very tricky getting your tongue around all the words that started with the same sounds.
