Mrs Blain read us a story called Frances the Firefly. Frances was a very silly firefly who listened to Cocky Roach... he tricked her into lighting a match and she accidently set fire to the Kingdom of Insects. She was very sorry for what she had done and she now tells everyone
never play with matches!
At Welcome Time this morning Mrs Brown did some finger exercises with the children... they all found this very funny and thoroughly enjoyed it.
In our floor book we were working on "how fire starts". The children drew some fantastic pictures, Phoebe's picture was of a forest fire... it started because somebody dropped a match. Emma drew a picture of her Mummy's cooker, she told me Mummy presses a button to make the fire. "Some fires start because fires and candles are left on too long" says Arianna. Kai told us fires start because people don't put their campfires out properly and Sam drew a picture of someone leaving a pan on the cooker for too long and it caught fire. Clever children we've got at Stonelaw Pre School!
At group time we talked about our emotions... what makes us feel happy/sad and then we drew pictures for our journey books.
Snack today was oatcakes, cucumber and tomatoes with a choice of milk or water to drink.
At Physical Time we had great fun with the parachute. We now know in a fire... smoke rises and it's not as smokey near to the floor. We were pretending to escape by crawling under the parachute on our tummies trying to keep our heads as low as possible.
