This morning we started with talking about fireworks and keeping safe. We also went over keeping safe at the park.
We then ventured to Overtoun Park. We didn't have any fireworks but we had volcanoes! The children gathered leaves and we set them around our tin trays. Mrs Black had a very cool experiment to show us. She had plastic volcanoes into which she put paint, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. She put the lid on and the chemical reaction caused an eruption. The anticipation of the eruption had the children enthralled.
After this we went for a short play on the equipment. It was quite cold but the sun was shining. Some of the children pretended to be Fireman sliding down the pole and then running to put out fires or rescue cats from the tree. This was done of their own accord.
Back to the nursery for snack - a choice of cereal with milk or water which they all gobbled up. For goodbye time we read the story Laura's Star and did some action songs.
