Having arrived safe and sound however the children soon got down to the important work of playing. Melody was doing some lovely painting at the easel. Louis, Ben Archibald and Felix were building with our Poly M construction toys. The water tray was very busy with the children fishing for number clams and the street mat saw plenty of cars whizzing around.
Mrs Brown was talking to the children about what makes them happy and there were good answers aplenty that can be seen up on our wall. I think that activity made Mrs Brown happy!
Mrs Friel was keen to get the children moving and keeping warm, so it was off to Overtoun Park for some fresh air and exercise. We slipped on the icy puddles, crunched over the frozen grass and leaves and then played hopscotch - it was lots of fun.
The park visit also tied in nicely with the new topic - Our Bodies. Ben Gough had told us on Monday that he wanted to learn about lungs and what better time to start than on a cold winter morning when we could see our own breath. Mrs Black chatted to the children about breathing the air into our lungs and breathing it back out again. We talked about how the air around us felt cold on our hands but when we breathed out the air felt warm. By this time it was very cold outside so there was just time for some more icy puddles on the way back to nursery where the parents were already waiting for us.
We will see you all tomorrow for some more fun activities and learning.
