We were in full bloom again in the role play corner - it looks like Covent Garden flower market and the children loved playing shop with the till and flowers. The sand tray looked a bit unusual but it was just that Mrs Brown had added water to the sand. The children really enjoyed moulding the sand with their hands and building sandcastles. Over in the water tray Aaron was using various sizes of plastic tubs, pouring water from a jug and making fountains. Leo and Logan were also loving the water tray but they were sending our astronauts from the space mat on deep sea diving missions! Ruari, Mack and Naima were creating some fabulous structures from the zoo Duplo. Ben Archibald and Louis were discovering the final frontier, exploring the deep reaches of space with our shuttle, rockets and astronauts.
Mrs Friel, Miss Smith and Mrs Brown decided to some exploring themselves. They crammed the backpack full of useful equipment and headed off (twice) to Overtoun park. The children had a fantastic time building dens and climbing trees and the weather was very good to our intrepid explorers.
Meanwhile, back at the nursery, Mrs Winsley kept the troops well fed serving up a delicious snack of bread and butter, salami and apples with milk or water to drink. There was some very interesting chat around the snack table today when the children were discussing Easter and what it meant to them (mainly chocolate and bunnies).
Mrs Black was getting messy with pom poms again, this time at the creative table. The children were designing Easter cards, using paint, pegs and pom poms to decorate the front. The patterns that they were making were beautiful and very inventive and I am sure you will love the end product tomorrow.
At Reflection Time Mrs Black was hearing all about the children's park adventures. We then had a good look at some frog spawn, brought in from one of our afternoon children's pond, and we discussed the frog life cycle again. The children are getting really good at understanding the process of tadpoles and frogs and with this kind donation of frog spawn hopefully they will be able to see first hand the changes this animal goes through.
Don't forget tomorrow we are looking for the children to looking resplendent in their Easter attire. There will be a special visit from our furry eared friend and we will be having a parade for parents to come and see how fabulous all the children will look.
One last piece of news and that is a huge congratulation to Jayden, Cody, Mum and Dad on the safe arrival of Baby Boy Febers - we can't wait to meet him and send our love to the whole family.
